12V 55W 60W Halogen Heat Lamp Grinder Projector Quartz Halogen Bulb
Halogen lamps are made of tungsten filaments but are enclosed in a
smaller quartz glass envelope. Because the glass bulb is so close
to the filament, it would melt easily if it were made of glass. The
gas in the glass bulb is composed of different gases to form a
halogen lamp group. These gases have a very interesting property:
they combine with tungsten vapor. If the temperature is not high
enough, the halogen gas combines with the tungsten atoms to
evaporate and redeposit on the filament. This cycling process keeps
the filament going for a lot of time. Plus, it can run hot
filaments, which means you get more light energy. You still get a
lot of heat, but because the quartz glass bulb is so close to the
filament, it gets hotter than a normal light bulb.
Halogen bulbs can also operate at higher temperatures than ordinary
incandescent bulbs, and they are brighter and more efficient.
However, at this temperature, ordinary glass may soften, so halogen
bulbs need to use quartz glass with a higher melting point. Since
quartz glass cannot block ultraviolet rays, halogen bulbs usually
require the use of additional ultraviolet filters.
